Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need a reservation or can we just walk in?

A reservation is always recommended. We often get booked up on July, August, and Holiday weekends. As soon as you have a firm date, send in a website request. You can also make a reservation by phone at 541-878-3623. Without a reservation on a busy day, you may need to wait until later in the afternoon before we can accommodate you. Call before you come, so we can inform you of the rafts, and time slots available.

What time do the trips start?

We book trips every 30 minutes starting at 9:00 am daily. (Earlier times may be available upon request)

What equipment is included?

Included with a raft are the paddles, life jackets, a dry bag, a water gun, and an ice chest with ice. We sell bottled water, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

What is the process?

You park in our lot. We take your group with the rafts 11 miles up the river and put you in the water. It is a self-guided trip. You can stop along the way. We pick you up in the Shady Cove Park, which is about 1/2 of a mile from us, and bring you back.

How long does the 11-mile trip take to float?

It takes about 40 minutes from the time you sign in until you get in the water. It takes another 2 to 3 1/2 hours of float time depending on the flow of the river. Longer trips to Takelma Park, Dodge Bridge and Touvelle Park are available.

What class are the rapids? How big are they?

They are Class 1 and 2 rapids. Class 2 rapids can have up to a 3-foot wave.

Can the rafts handle large people?

Yes they can! Weight is not a problem for the rafts. We have life jackets up to 7x. They fit people well over 500 lbs.

How early should we arrive?

Arrive at your reservation time. Have your gear ready. We supply ice chests and ice. If you bring your own, please bring two medium size ice chests, instead of a large one. (They don’t fit well, and are heavy).

What types of payment are accepted?

Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and cash. We require a credit card, even if you pay with cash. (This ensures that we can be reimbursed for any lost, or damaged items.) Please have your group leader’s license, and credit card with you when you sign-in. We hold your driver’s license during your trip.

How do we check in?

Have only one person pay for the trip. That person is the group leader. Any money that needs to be collected from other people in your group needs to be done before you check in.

What is your cancellation policy?

  1. Please call us as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your reservation.

  2. WEATHER: If the temperature is less than 80 degrees, we don’t expect you to go rafting. A deposit can be transferred to another day. (Cancellations can be done with a simple phone call). 541-878-3623.

  3. If your group has downsized to where you require fewer rafts, you will need to call at least two days prior to cancel the raft(s) that are no longer needed. (See # 1.)

When is the rafting season?

Depending on the weather and the water level, it runs from Mid-May through September.

Where are you located?

21165 Hwy 62, Shady Cove, OR 97539. When heading north on Hwy 62, we are 1.2 miles past the “Welcome to Shady Cove” sign, just past the hardware store, on the left. We are on the corner of Hwy 62 and Edgewood Park Dr. To enter the parking lot, turn left on Edgewood Park Dr. (Turn left into the Second driveway).

Can we bring our young child on the raft?

Yes. The decision is yours. We do supply youth, child and infant lifejackets. NOTE: The best place for small children is in the center of the raft.

Are life jackets required?

Oregon State law requires everyone 16 years of age, and younger to wear a life jacket. When you sign our rental agreement, you are agreeing to wear a life jacket. Raft The Rogue Raft Rentals policy is that everyone must be wearing a life jacket before they board the raft.

Can we bring our dog?

You can bring your dog. There is a $10.00 charge.

Can we smoke on the raft?

Due to the damage that cigarettes have caused to the rafts, SMOKING IS PROHIBITED in the rafts! Stop and take a smoke break outside of the rafts. Please do not smoke in them.

What is the rule about alcohol?

You can’t drink and paddle.

What should we bring on the trip?

Bring items that you would normally use when you are in the sun for extended periods of time. Wear shoes that can get wet. You must wade to get into a raft. Bring a ziplock bag for your cell phone/cash/etc (Or get one from us) then put it in the supplied dry bag. You can leave keys with us in the office. On hot days, a towel is not needed, unless you want to use it for shade from the sun.

Is there a restroom along the way?

Yes! There is a campground ½ way down the river. Also, there is a park close to the start if needed.
